Just Thinking 21

Just Thinking 21

We hosted a traditional marriage introduction some time ago at our home in the UK. Between my wife’s niece and a fine prince from Uganda. Both families came dressed in distinctive and beautiful traditional wear unique to their respective countries.

This was a celebration of the coming together of two hearts, irrespective of the differences in their nationality, tribe or language.

Acts 17:24-27 (ESV) says,

24The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, 25nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.

26And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27 that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us.

Verse 26 says that God made from one man every nation of mankind on earth.

What this means is that we have a common ancestor – one father Adam and one mother Eve.

Verse 27 says that God made us one so that we might seek Him. Feel our way towards Him and find Him.

There might be differences between us but we are indeed one people made by the One and only true God! The one God Who made us defines our oneness!

We should therefore see ourselves as one people. Set aside every form of discrimination such as racism, nationalism, tribalism, denomination, and whatever else defines our differences and come together. Seeking God and walking in peace!
