Just Thinking 22
A few years ago, I drove for 4 hours from London to Manchester to visit my daughter and her family. On getting near to Manchester, I stopped by the motorway (freeway or expressway) to set up my satellite navigation (satnav) to help navigate my way on the final leg of the journey to my daughter’s home. The satnav took me through an unfamiliar route but surprisingly it was shorter and quicker to my daughter’s house!
Good concentration, alertness and focus are needed for motorway or night driving especially on a long journey. Also, you need to know where you are going and to have a sense of direction; otherwise, you will be driving to nowhere and soon be lost!
Hebrews 12:1-3 (ESV) says,
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. 3Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
In the journeys of life, we need a guide and a clear sense of where we are going.
Our focus and guide is Jesus Christ and our destination is eternal life in heaven. We need to avoid the distractions of sin which would lead to an accident, by staying focused.
Psalm 25:4-5 (NLT) says,
4 Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow.
5 Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.
The reward of faithfulness and perseverance is ahead of us!
So, safe journey!
