Just Thinking 23
The world in which we live has become so complex that it needs every form of guide, manual, instruction and direction to show us the way and to give us understanding. Without these things, we will be lost and everything can come grinding to a stop!
This is why we have road maps, atlas, manuals, dictionaries, Q&A, help sections, information desks, concordance, satnav, etc to assist us.
I was thinking about this when I went to several places around Manchester on one of my visits there, depending entirely on my car’s satellite navigation (satnav). I don’t know my bearings around Manchester and I could easily have been lost, frustrated and going nowhere!
Jesus said this in John 16:12-14 (ESV),
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
The Holy Spirit is our Helper
The world is like a maze. The deep things of God are similar in description. One Person that can help us find our way through all areas of life is the Holy Spirit. He is our spiritual guide and universal navigation sent by God to help us. We need Him daily.
As we consult satnavs in driving, let us do the same with God by seeking His face daily in prayer for guidance and to shed light on every area of our lives.
In Psalm 32:8 (ESV) God says,
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Psalm 48:14 (NKJV) also says,
14 For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.
