Just Thinking 7
I was reading Philippians 4:4-8, and I began to see a connection between our thoughts and our mental and emotional health.
Philippians 4:4-8 (ESV) says,
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone.
The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Anxieties and worries start from negative thinking and fear. Fear is a belief or being afraid that a danger or evil that you can’t see will happen.
It doesn’t matter whether the fear is real or not. It feeds into your thought processes and emotions, and it can torment and weaken you.
Keep negative thoughts away from your mind; otherwise, it can lead to stress, depression, mental illness and feelings of hopelessness.
Decongest and declutter your thoughts from pollutants and negativity. You need to stop believing lies and focus on the truth.
Stop reading unhealthy material in books and social media. Stop watching movies and TV programmes that are unhelpful to your mind.
A sound mind will produce sound health. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
Final thoughts…
Find something good, lovely and beautiful to think about. Fill your mind with good thoughts of yourself, of others, of the environment, and of God.
It shall be well with you!
