Our Story
The Covenant of Grace Ministries
The Covenant of Grace Ministries (TCGM) was founded by Bishop Edemekong S. Ekong in July 1995 with the following stated vision:
“To Teach & Train people to walk in a covenant relationship with God and with His Son Jesus Christ and to enable them to obtain all the covenant blessings and grace that comes with the relationship.”
TCGM is a teaching ministry to equip believers for effective ministry to God and to man.
The early stages of the ministry were limited to short-term leadership training seminars lasting between one week and one month. These training programmes/seminars were run mainly in Asia, Africa, Europe and South West Australia, and specifically in the following countries – India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Perth, Spain, Norway, Nigeria, Kenya, Gambia, Uganda & Rwanda.
Thousands of pastors and church leaders have benefitted from these programmes since 1995.
Grace Bible Training Centre (GBTC) birthed
While Bishop Ekong was on a 3-year engineering assignment in Indonesia in 2010, the Lord led him to start a School of Ministry, which is a longer-term Bible and Leadership training programme.
In 2012, Grace Bible Training Centre (GBTC) was birthed on the island of Batam, Indonesia. Among the first set of 50 registered students were experienced and seasoned pastors.
These pastors were attracted to the Certificate course because the curriculum was designed as a refresher course for serving ministers as well as a preparatory course for young pastors, existing church leaders and potential leaders.
The programme is run tuition-free for 4 months and then rotates to the next batch. In Batam, we had up to 9 batches of students with a total of 220 graduates. We decided to close down the centre after the 9th batch in 2017 when we were no longer able to secure in batch 10 the standard minimum requirement of 12 students.
Expansion
Since 2012, new centres have opened in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania and Rwanda.
As of August 2022, there were 25 training centres set up across these countries – 10 in Kenya, 10 in Nigeria, 3 in Uganda, and 1 each in Tanzania (Arusha) and Rwanda (Kigali).
There are plans to open more centres in these countries as well as new ones in Congo, Burundi and Malawi.
