Principal & Founder: Bishop Edemekong S. Ekong
Bishop Ekong is a Bible teacher with a prophetic edge and also a missionary. He is based in UK with his family and has been in the teaching ministry for over 35 years.
Before leaving Nigeria for UK in 1986 for further studies, Bishop Ekong was a lecturer of Civil Engineering at the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi for four years. In 1987, he obtained a Master’s degree in Advanced Structural Engineering from Southampton University, UK.
He is a chartered Civil Engineer and retired as a Senior Principal Structural Engineer, having worked in the Oil & Gas industry for nearly 30 years.
Bishop Ekong has a passion for overseas missions, the teaching and training of church leaders for effective ministry. His work of ministry has taken him to different parts of the world – Africa, Europe, USA, Australia, Asia and the Far East. He often travelled on missions even while still on secular work. The secular work sometimes provided opportunities for missions whenever posted overseas to supervise some engineering projects.
He is the Founder and Principal of the School of Ministry known as Grace Bible Training Centre (GBTC), which is the training arm of The Covenant of Grace Ministries. It currently has over 25 training centres across Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda, which provides tuition-free training and the equipping of pastors and church leaders. The ministry has over 55 members of staff in the field manning these training centres. Since its inception in 2012, nearly 2000 pastors and church leaders have so far graduated from these centres.
Bishop Ekong and his wife Dr Theresa are blessed with three adult children and four grandsons.
Vice-Principal: Dr Theresa Ngozi Ekong
Theresa Ekong was born in Nigeria and came to the UK as a child. After training as a scientist (BSc, MSc, PhD), she spent some years in research before joining the Civil Service. She currently works in the Animal and Plant Health Agency, where amongst other things, she manages the Apprenticeship Programme and chairs the EDI Focus Group.
She is a committed Christian and active in church life with counselling and pastoral work. Outside church, she and her husband are missionaries (under the umbrella of The Covenant of Grace Ministries) with a focus on teaching and training Christian ministers in poorer/rural regions of the world (primarily East Africa and Nigeria) who perhaps would not otherwise be able to afford formal theological education, in order to equip them for more effective ministry.
She is married to Bishop Edemekong Ekong with three adult children, some of whom are married with families of their own, including four grandsons.

The General Administrators assist with the management, operation and administration of GBTC in the countries of Africa where GBTC is well established. We also have National coordinators in Rwanda (Rev Jackson Munyaneza) and in Tanzania (Rev Kavishe Eligibor) where GBTC is newly established and with the aim of expanding the vision in these countries.
These General Administrators and coordinators are assisted by a team of Zonal Registrars and Assistant Registrars who manage the training centres which are grouped into Regional Zones.
